This week in Green Class we have been observing the caterpillars growing and changing. Children have learnt about chrysalis and tried to guess for how long the caterpillars will sleep into their cocoons. We had very interesting discussions and we are all looking forward to seeing some butterflies next week!
Caterpillars are in Nursery!
This week in Green class we have been observing the caterpillars growing and learnt about their life cycle. We took the opportunity to read lots of stories and books around caterpillars and also act some of these stories out!
The weather was also very sunny and children spend most of their mornings outside observing insects and creating mini swimming pools for them to not be thirsty :)
This week in Green Class we learnt about the Platinum Jubilee!
Children came to Nursery dressed as knights, queens, princesses, kings and princes.
We made some special flags, read some books about the Queen, made some fruit kebabs and baked colourful cakes for our Jubilee picnic in the garden.
We also sang out and acted out a song about the Queen. We had such a fun day!
This week in Green Class we have been talking about different countries and flags a lot and also took the opportunity to talk to children about the environment around them in school.
We had a go at making flags and thinking about and drawing a group map of the top garden. We have explored directional and positional language with the children and had some really lovely discussions!
We are explorers!
This week in Green class we had Lisa joining us, who talked to us about being a scientist!
Children wondered what being a scientist means and found out that they all are as they are trying to find out how the world works everyday.
We learned about different types of scientists, dinosaurs and conducted some experiments with celery. We learned that plants drink water, added food colouring to water and had a chance at guessing which colours will travel fastest through the celery sticks.
We will be observing the various changes over the next week!
I wonder what other experiments you can do over the weekend?
We are scientists!
This week in Green Class we have invited a couple of parents in to celebrate Eid and Japanese Children’s Day.
We did lots of cooking and arts and crafts with children and parents and learned about traditional coconut balls, Koinoburi and Origami.
We had lovely discussions about these different celebrations and traditions and it was lovely seeing the children collaborating together.
This week in Green Class we have been working on AB and ABCD patterns using natural resources from our garden.
We had lovely discussions about where these natural resources come from and children had a go at making connections and predictions to develop their early mathematical thinking.
Wonder what other patterns you can create over the weekend? :)
This week the weather has been beautiful so we got the chance to spend plenty of time outdoors and learn new things.
Green class children wanted to build a den so we provided them with a tent and demonstrated how it goes up. We also learnt about different types of knots and had so much fun at playing imaginatively in our tent. Wondering if you had a go at building one at home over the weekend?
This week we have been caring for the ducklings. We have been looking after them and made a pool for them to have a swim in! We also had a go stroking the ducklings they were so fluffy! They will leave on Friday ... goodbye ducklings we will miss you!
This week ducklings have arrived at Moss Hall Nursery.
Ducklings will stay with us next week too. This has been a great opportunity for children to learn about life cycle and developing empathy and sense of care for living creatures.
Another egg has hatched this morning and we have now 3 ducklings 🐥! I wonder when the next one will hatch? Have a think over the weekend :)
Ducklings have arrived at Moss Hall Nursery!
This week has been Eco Week at Moss Hall Nursery! Children and teachers have been carrying some green activities to look after the environment and the garden at school.
We did some litter picking, new plants planting, cleaning ponds and also chitting seed potatoes. I wonder what else you will do at the weekend to look after our environment?
This week in Green Class we had a wonderful time during World Book Day!
We had so much fun dressing up as our favourite characters, reading our most treasured stories and discovering new books!
I wonder what books you will read this weekend?
This week in Green Class we highly focussed on French as language of the week to celebrate our little French speakers and reinforce and mirror the strong value of bilingualism and additional languages.
Parents were invited in to read stories and sing songs in French. We had so much fun!
Au revoir and bon weekend!
